» 2012 Pack 362 Updates!

2012 is shaping up as a big year for Pack 362!  We just held our Blue & Gold Ceremony and were pleased to see 12 of our Webelo scouts achieve the Arrow of Light award, all of whom have also graduated to local Fairport Troops to continue their journey in Scouting.  Additionally, at our Blue & Gold we transferred Cubmaster responsibilities from Mark Pederson, a longstanding volunteer in the Scouting community to Bernie Sampson who has served as Assistant Cub Master for the past 3 years.  Finally, our Pack did extremely well at the District's Pinewood Derby "Race of Champions" with one of our own winning the top District prize and many of our scouts placing in their respective den categories!  Congratulations to All!

    About Cub Scouts

Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America has helped the nation's youth through Cub Scouting.  It is a year-round family-oriented program designed for boys who are in the first grade through fifth grade.  Parents and Pack Leaders work together to create an exciting, challenging and fun learning environment in which we focus on 10 key areas that include Character Development, Good Citizenship, Sportsmanship & Fitness, Spiritual Growth, Family Understanding, Respectful Relationships, Personal Achievement, Friendly Service, Fun & Adventure and finally Preparation for entry into Boy Scouts.

Cub Scouting members join a Cub Scout pack and are assigned to a den, usually a neighborhood group of six to eight scouts.  Tiger Cubs (first graders), Wolf Scouts (second graders), Bear Cubs (third graders), and Webelo Scouts (fourth & fifth graders) will ordinarily meet several times throughout the month, usually weekly or bi-weekly.

Once a month, all of the dens and family members gather for a pack meeting under the direction of the Cubmaster and pack committee.  The committee includes parents of scouts in the pack and members of the chartered organization.  All dens meet together.  Skits and similar activities are presented by the scouts and relate to a monthly theme.  The scouts also receive recognition for any achievements accomplished during the preceding month.

During Den Meetings scouts meet with their own den and work together to complete activities that help them with the achievements required to progress toward the next rank.
